My Style

I am a dreamer. Much of my work comes from my imagination. In fact the only way that I can reach certain parts of my dreams is through art. I love surrealism combined with existential thought. I like my creations to inspire and provoke thought. I try to reach dreams and moments in the sub conscience that challenge obvious thought. I want you to laugh. I want you to cry. I want you to wonder. Most of all I want you to think.

I was born with a paintbrush in my hand. As a child growing up in Albuquerque, New Mexico my main outlet was art. My family realized my passion at an early age by giving me an art studio and a mentor to teach my beginning skills. I have always been an entrepreneur trying to make my art a business selling found object creations and illustrations at local fairs and events. My passion as a child also led me into activism. I spent most of my secondary education working on environmental issues. I developed my sense of social justice even further in my college career as a human rights activist. During this time I continued to paint. I received a certificate in New Media and a Bachelors of Arts degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia. During this time I did quite a bit of traveling including voyages to Israel, South East Asia, Japan, Australia, Central America and all over North America. These experiences opened my eyes to the diversity of cultures globally. With this set foundation as a media savvy compassionate being I started a career in Community Development all the while attempting to be an artist.

In June 2004 I had an epiphany. I started on a journey with the help of Julia Cameron's book The Artists Way. With this voyage I finally regained the confidence and determination to become a creative being full force. Since this journey I have taken on creations full time. I currently am furthering my skills through various art courses as well as showing at art work in galleries.

My goals for the next two years are to create a dynamic portfolio that truly demonstrates my work. I would like to enter graduate school to receive a Masters in Fine Arts and Design. I want every part of my being to be engulfed in some aspect of creativity. Because of my diverse interests I wish to be a multifaceted designer whom can take the colors of the world and format them in an advanced technological medium as well as create traditional formats.
