Sha Kong Wang, Chinese (1959 - )
Sha-Kong Wang, also known as H. Gordon Wang, was born in 1959 in China to parents who were both artists. He started drawing from nature at age nine. By eighteen, his paintings from group shows were purchased by collectors from Europe & The United States. In 1983 he went to Boston and double-majored in painting & design in Massachusetts College of Art where he earned his Bachelor Degree with honor standing. In 1987 he went to work on his Master Degree of Fine Arts at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn NY for three semesters. He & his wife, also an artist, moved to Canada in 1989 & started their family in Toronto area.
The combination of a solid skill training in China & an open-minded education in The United States, nurtured by the tranquility of Canada, gives his art the qualities that are unique, refreshing, & though seemingly simple & direct, very sophisticated Collectors love the positive energy his work makes them feel.
Wang's paintings are collected enthusiastically by numerous corporations, institutions & private art collectors from worldwide.
