About the artist:

Adam Mieczysław Styka (born July 11, 1940 in Mielnica) is a Polish artist, painter, graphic designer, and educator. He is a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and the Faculty of Art at Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin. Since 2010, he has led a painting studio at the University of Applied Information Technology and Management in Warsaw, majoring in Graphic Arts.

He studied at the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Łódź in the studio of Professor Marian Jaeschke (graduating with distinction in 1965). In 1991, he was awarded the title of professor. He served as head of the Department of Painting and Drawing at the Faculty of Graphic Arts, and from 1999 to 2002, vice-rector of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.

Recipient of numerous awards and honors, including: Audience Award – Symposium of Visual Artists and Scientists, Puławy 1966, Creative Scholarships of the Minister of Culture and Art 1968, 1984, 1986, 1989, Individual Award of the Minister of Culture and Art 1977, Premio Internationale – “Apollo Musagete” Talia (Italy) 1985, Honorable Mention – 21st International Painting Festival, Cagnes Sur Mer (France) 1989, Individual Award 1st degree of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage 2002, Annual Creative Scholarship - The Society for Arts of Chicago (USA) 2004, Silver Medal “For Merit to Culture Gloria Artis” 2012, Gold Medal “For Merit to Culture Gloria Artis” 2019.
