Durand is famous for re-etching worn Rembrandt printing plates as well as other Old Masters like Durer, Van Leyden and others. This etching was published in a collection of his prints, "Eaux-Fortes et Gravures des Maitres anciens, Tirees Des Collections Les Plus Celebres" by Edouard Lievre and Georges Duplessis.

Albrecht Durer was born in Nuremberg, Germany on May 21, 1471, the second of eighteen children in the family of a master goldsmith of some repute.
