About the artist:
Born 1948 in Tabasco, Mexico Began art studies in 1967 at the Academy of San Carlos of the National School of Fine Arts. From 1969 to 1970 studied mural art at the workshops of Juan O'Gorman and David Alfaro Siqueiros. From 1971 to 1974 functioned as a freelance photographer and also as artistic director of Grupo Belther Advertising. Also studied at the Art School of Vincennes in Paris, the Artists' Collective in Taos, New Mexico and at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Lived in Chicago since 1976. Executed eight murals in Mexico City and Chicago. Exhibited in one-man shows in Mexico, Italy, Canada, and the United States, as well as group shows in Japan, Germany, Yugoslavia, Spain, Portugal, and Puerto Rico. Permanent collections containing Mr. Romero 5 work include the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, the Art Institute of Chicago, The Museum of Modern Latin American Art in Washington, D.C., The Museum of the Print in Mexico City, The Hermitage in Leningrad, USSR, and the Mexican Fine Arts Center Museum.
