Born 1894 in Paris - died 13th February 1959. In 1910 Andree Joubert joined the Ecole des Arts Decoratifs in Nice and in 1912 exhibited at the Salon des Beaux-Arts de Nice. Joubert did not make her Paris debut at the Solon des Independants until 1924. However, as she decided to abandon art in 1917 to care for the war wounded. After this she went to Algiers and to Palestine to 'learn about light'. From 1920 to 1930, she travelled in Syria and North Africa. On her return, she again exhibited at the Paris salons, including the Salon des Artistes Francais, the Salon des Tuileries, the Salon des Independats, the Salon of the Societe Natione des Beaux-Arts and the Salon d'Automne, of which she was made a member. She also took part in the Venice Biennale of 1930, the International Exhbition in Paris in 1937 (where she decorated the pavilion of the Ville de Paris, the architecture pavilion and the pavilion of the Cote d'Azur). She exhibited regularly with Marcel Blenheim in Paris in 1926, 1933, and 1940 in solo exhibitions. In 1940 Joubert again volunteered to care for the war wounded. She decorated the offices of the French navy. Her paintings inspired by Nice include Woman at a Window, Wild Flowers and Spring Bouquet.
