About the artist:
Painter and printmaker, born in Ireland but lived for some years in Saffron Walden with his parents. Educated at Maidstone College of Art, he exhibited widely before moving to Australia (where he now lives) to work with the artist Arthur Boyd. Anthony Deigan, born in Ireland in 1945, moved to Essex as a boy and later attended Maidstone College of Art. In 1968 Deigan won an Anglo-French scholarship to study printmaking in Paris and his first solo exhibition took place in 1969 at Editions Electo. Other exhibitions in the UK and abroad followed including the Bradford International Print Biennale, the Royal Academy Show and an exhibition at Kettle’s Yard in Cambridge. Deigan taught at St Martin’s School of Art and later at institutions in Australia and Indonesia. His works are held at Sheffield University and the British Council Collection, amongst others. He lives and works in Australia.
