About the artist:
At a time when most photographers rely on a trademark style, Brad Starks is known for his extraordinary diverse and imaginative work. Thriving on variety and dealing with client’s with a down to earth “team effort” mentality, Brad brings his unique talent and easygoing attitude to all his projects. Brad’s career in photography started as a teenager in Chicago, when he would photograph family members and friends during holidays and summer camp. “I remember my Mom had every major fashion magazine you can think of all over the house. I remember going through GQ, Interview, and British Vogue in ’79 and seeing those amazing Bruce Weber and Richard Avedon photos and campaigns….Calvin Klein & Ralph Lauren ads. I had them plastered all over my room as a kid.“ Brad moved to downtown Chicago and attended Columbia College while working part time for Ron Gordon (The premier Black and white printing lab) and assisted other photographers from New York and Chicago. After building his own portfolio, he made connections in Europe and traveled to Spain were he embarked on a full time career as a photographer. While based in Madrid he was able to travel (Paris, Italy, Germany). He remained in Europe for 3 years before making a permanent move to New York City where he currently resides. Brad's advertising work has been published in top magazines such as VOGUE, COSMOPOLITAIN, IN STYLE, OCEAN DRIVE, AMERICAN PHOTO, SELF, JANE, SEVENTEEN, GLAMOUR, MARIE CLAIRE (FRENCH, ITALIAN), MAX, HARPER’S BAZAAR, W, FITNESS, LUCKY, GQ, STUFF, and MAXIM. His fashion Clients includes NICOLE MILLER, OSCAR DE LA RENTA, SPEIGAL CATALOG, REAL COSMETICS COSMETICS, DDC LAB DESIGNS, RJ REYNOLDS TOBACCO, MERCDES BENZ, & JANET HOWARD. Currently Brad is working on collection of nudes shot on location in the British Virgin Islands & in the studio exclusively on Polaroid film.
