Bruno Luna

Mexican (1963)

About the artist:

Bruno Luna was born in Mexico City on July 9, 1963. Interested in art since his childhood, he completed a painting workshop with Professor Robin Bond, and then proceeded to the Anahuac University of Mexico City to study Architecture and Graphic Design. His professional Career stared with assisting Marcelo Morandin, One of the most renowned Mexican Sculptors, in Directing models. Three years later, Bruno Luna went on to travel around the world, studying history of art and marketing. That was when, using his design education and years of observing Morandin at work, Bruno Luna first started to experiment with sculpture. Over the years, his work evolved into a very distinct style, in which voluptuousness is converted into aesthetics. The influences of Mexican tradition, combined with almost cubist, Picasso-like treatment of the human form and the the sculptors bold interpretation of the medium, manage to transform the ridiculous into the sublime. Incredibly real, Bruno Luna's sculptures carry an undeniable air of happiness and vitality. However, this sculptor's most incredible achievement is undeniably, the way in which motion is captured in each of his bronze figures. Although frozen in time, each individual piece creates an illusion of continuous movement. Today, Sculpture remains Bruno Luna's main passion. He is also a collector, an editor, a promotor and an auctioneer of art, both privately and in his role as Director of La Galeria 10/1 0. His work has been recognized worldwide, and is included in many public and private collections. Among those are the collections owned by Prince Rainiero of Monaco, the American actor CHevy Chase, and many others. Bruno Luna's sculptures appeared on Mexican most popular syndicated network, Televisa, in a soap opera called "Mi Abuelo y Yo". His works has also participates in over fifty philanthropic auctions all around Mexico and Costa Rica.
