about Impalas

In the center of the composition, a male impala with long horns stares straight at the viewer while three females stand behind him and look into various directions.

In this classic depiction of animals from the African landscape, Caroline Schultz casts a bright light down the center of the composition and shadows along the left and right borders, highlighting the animals and isolating them as the focal points amid the trees.

About The Artist: Caroline Schultz

Schultz has served for three years on the board of directors of the La Jolla Art Association, which was founded in 1919 by Ellen Scripps. She has been Art Director of the East African Wild Life Society, Southern chapter, and is now United States Art Director of the East African Wild Life Society. Her work is on a volunteer basis and she devotes many hours to further conservation. Her fascination with Africa began in her early childhood. She...
