Charles Ford was born in Dallas, Texas. He earned his bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from Lamar University and, for the next 15 years, worked in the field of engineering. In the early 1980s, he left for New York and had a successful career as a painter there for over nine years prior to returning to Texas.
