French (1953)
About the artist:
French painter and sculptor Christian Guérin was born in 1953 in Saint-Paul-de-Vence. Mostly raised by his painter grandmother Berthe Cammeo, he grew up in an artistic environment. Today he lives in Miami. Christian Guérin draws inspiration from all kinds of material for his works, going so far as to consider himself “someone who composes" rather than an artist. Indeed, in looking at it more closely you can get lost in the details that make up his work. In the style of a pointilliste, he scatters butterflies, forming a heart or a parrot as a result. His trademark is thus the accumulation of diverse and recycled materials, often linked to resin or, more recently bronze, figures. His works are at once poetic (like his work L'amour) and funny (like that of Crazy Frog). His universe is oniric, almost childish even, populated by animals but also icons such as Marilyn Monroe. He also shows us landscapes, sometimes adding phrases to his works. A decidedly unclassifiable artist, enter into Christian Guérin's poetic and crazy world!
