About the artist:

Nartonis prints have been shown throughout the United States and internationally. My work has been included in portfolios such as Pocahontas meets Hello Kitty (with Native American men and women), The Art Connection Collection, The Boston Printmakers’ Translations (2006), The Boston Portfolio for the Southern Graphics Council (2004), Varied Voices, EES Members Lighten Up, and States of the State: A Contemporary Survey of American Printing among others. Books and magazines covering the arts have included my work. In 2014, Muskat Studios: The First 20 included many Nartonis works published at the studio, “Sweeping Gesures, Moments in Ink, work by Candy Nartonis,” appeared in Contemporary Impressions: The Journal of the American Print Alliance in 2011. Studio Visit Magazine, published by The Open Studios Press, featured my work in their Summer 2010 Edition. I was also represented in American Art Collector, Juried Competition of New Work, Alcove Books October, 2009, among other books and articles. More recently paintings, sculpture and installation works have been included in one person exhibitions, group shows and travelling projects here in the US and in Asia and Europe. I moved from Boston’s South End to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2011. My work is included in Re-riding History: from the Southern Plains to the Matanzas Bay, curated by Emily Arthur, Marwin Begaye and John Hitchcock. This travelling show is currently at the Crisp-Ellert Art Museum at Flagler College in Saint Augustine, Florida. Public collections that own Nartonis works include: Denver Art Museum; Zimmerli Art Museum, Rutgers University; Santa Barbara Museum of Art; Museum of Art, University of Maine; University of New Mexico Museum; Boston Public Library Print Collection; US State Department, Washington, DC; Hallie Ford Museum of Art, Willamette University; and the National Art Academy, Hangzhou, China. Nartonis has been an Adjunct Lecturer at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, a faculty member and Director of the Museum at Principia College in Elsah, IL, and a juror for art exhibitions nationwide.
