About the artist:

Daniel Newman is not known to adhere to a single practice or medium, but is recognized for his ongoing exploration of how imagery, repetition, and recognition operate together in cyber culture and in experienced space. In 2006-07, Newman amassed over 60 hours of YouTube footage for an 80-channel video installation titled Viral Video. He also uses digital montaging to create a series of photographs in which pairs of recognizable public figures and celebrities’ faces are reconfigured through overlay. Regarding these works, the artist says “I sure hope I’m not making didactic art. I’m into poetics and erotics these days, not politics.” Newman has also created a series of collages from found images and materials, and drawings with broad and expressionistic brushwork.
