David McCall Johnston is a Midwesterner, born in South Bend, Indiana. After completing his studies with honors at the Art Center College of Design in California where he studied with Joseph Henninger and John LaGatta, he returned to the Midwest for his first art job as a studio artist at Art Staff in Detroit, Michigan, in 1964. A print created using flat stones or metal plates. The artist creates a lithograph by drawing an image directly onto the printing element using materials like lithograph crayons or special grease pencils. After this, the drawing is transferred from the plate to the paper in multiples. A lithograph will not have dots when examined with a magnifying glass.
