The creation of a "whirlpool" (tornado) through the use of a plane's smoke discharge, is a fine example of Dennis Oppenheim's interest in earthworks and manipulation of the environment by man.

American pioneer of Land art and Body art, born in Mason City, Washington. Studied at California College of Arts and Crafts, and Stanford University.
