About the artist:
Devon Jeffers is a native West Coast artist presently living in the Southwest United States. Over the past twenty years, her "love affair" with textiles has unfolded through a variety of applications and expressions. Originally, Devon studied Fine Art at UCSB, the Honolulu Academy of Fine Art and the Santa Barbara Art Institute, focusing her interest on oil painting and design. She discovered fabrics in a printmaking class, and made an immediate and spontaneous shift toward mastering sewing, tailoring and pattern drafting. In 1979, Devon moved to the Bay Area and embarked on a clothing design career. Finding her forte in stage and costume design, she outfitted many Bay Area musicians and formed a small manufacturing company which sold one of a kind "Artwear" through several boutiques from Marin County, California to Portland, Oregon. In the same time period, she began working with the Ashland Shakespeare Festival, researching and drafting period pieces.
