This Duane Bryers print is a classic example of his thoughtful depictions of cowboys in the American West.

Reclining against a boulder beside a kettle fire illuminating the space, the intimate scene reflects a deeper, contemplative side of the stereotypical cowboy than is typically otherwise seen. With horses grazing in the distance, the vacant stare of the man across the fire is emblematic of the trials faced by cowboys and ranchers in the American West.
