Eduardo Marin

Cuban (1965)

About the artist:

Eduardo Marín is a designer and graduated from the Polytechnic Institute of Industrial Design. The images he depicts are filled with references to the less-than glamorous printed matter of everyday life in Cuba. Marin believes in satire as a way to convey seriousness. His artwork has been showcased in individual as well as collective exhibitions in Cuba and around the world.

Marín belongs to the young generation of designers that colaborated with the ICAIC to introduce more contemporary film and visual influences at the beginning of the 1990s. Marín was part of the Cuban poster collective NUDO aka Equipo Nudo. Work created by the Equipo Nudo, formed by Marín and Vladimir Llaguno, demonstrates a provocative rebellion against previously accepted rules of graphic design. The 2000s saw the arrival of a new generation of Cuban poster designers that would undertake a resolutely experimental artistic practice and Nudo marked a historical milestone in Cuban graphic arts.
