French (1911–2001)
French Impressionist artist Emil Rampelberg is not afraid of using vibrant color in his paintings.
This countryside scene of rolling hills and verdant fields might have been depicted by a different artist with the same colors occurring in nature - greens and blues. Rampelberg instead insists on alien hues of purple, yellow, and pink, with only a single tree in green to tie in the composition as a landscape rather than an abstract. This mesmerizing watercolor painting is signed in the lower left and nicely framed in gold. Provenance: Galerie Felix Vercel, New York.
