French artist Emile Rampelberg has painted in this scene a relatively common view.
Looking out from a simple road, the barest sliver of the sea can be seen peeking between the walls of white-washed houses. Where the blue sky should be, however, is instead a lavender one, devoid of any clouds and broken only by a few sharp cuts of a telephone pole and power lines. This purple sky and the bright sand and houses make the whole tableau feel almost alien, as though this image was painted from a beach on a world not our own.
