About the artist:

From Germany, Eugene Frank became a marine and landscape painter who immigrated to New York in 1861 and was first employed as an engraver for Heliographic Engraving Company. In 1874 he began the study of painting in New York under A.C. Howland, A.H. Wyrant, Robert C. Minor, George Maynard and William Hart. In 1879 he continued his studies in Munich and Carlsruhe Germany and later made a tour of the world. He traveled worldwide but maintained studios in New York and Pennsylvania. In 1908, he moved to Los Angeles and remained there until his death in Glendale on January 9, 1914. He was a member of the California Art Club and exhibited at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Panama-Pacific Exposition in 1915 in San Diego. He received a medal and diploma for his exhibit at the Paris Exposition. Eugene C. Frank, was an artist and a traveler. He was born in Stuttgart, Germany.
