From Germany, Eugene Frank became a marine and landscape painter who immigrated to New York in 1861 and was first employed as an engraver for Heliographic Engraving Company. In 1874 he began the study of painting in New York under A.C. Howland, A.H. Wyrant, Robert C. Minor, George Maynard and William Hart.
