About the artist:

Florence Hasenflug was born in and educated in Brooklyn, NY. Her career began on the stage, where she was known as the “Million Dollar Jazz Baby” until she was 14 years old. A self-taught artist, she didn’t begin painting until her late 30’s. For the first part of her career, Hasenpflug was primarily an abstract artist. During the late 1960’s early 1970’s she moved towards city landscapes and city bridges and later concentrated mostly on florals. She both worked and exhibited at the A.I.A Gallery and Studios in Great Neck, LI with Sheila Hecht, Mildred Herman, Bruce Laird, Piry Rame, Dorothy Shaw and Ann Shore. She was represented in New York City by Robert Young Gallery on 5th Avenue, who was a major promoter of her works. Her works have shown in galleries and museums in the Metropolitan area and throughout the U.S. and are in many private and corporate collections. Her artwork has been shown in galleries and museums around the United States and is found in many private and corporate collections. She will be remembered not only for her body of work but also for her “joie de vivre” and the joy she brought all around her. She passed away peacefully on November 29th 2010.
