About the artist:

Giovanni da Fiesole, a working artist, became a Dominican monk around 1417. His sweet style earned him the nickname "Angelico." Fra Angelico practiced Masaccio's ideals of using realistic light to create solid, heroic forms. Around 1443 Fra Angelico and his assistants created fifty frescoes for their new monastery of San Marco in Florence. He died in Rome while painting for the pope. Comment on works: Religious.
