A well known work of Francisco de Goya this print is from the Los Caprichos suite, plate 73.

Displaying three people in different societal roles, seen as a commentary on prostitution. Ayala’s manuscript explains this engraving in the following way: "Women want to throw themselves into the bribe more than they want to unravel skins and work at home." Beautifully framed, the etching is from the 8th publication created circa 1905 - 1907.

About The Medium: Aquatint

An etching process in which tone is created by treating a plate with fine particles of acid resistant material (like powder resin) and then placing the plate in an acid bath. The acid bites into the plate between the grains of resin and when printed, the mass of tiny spots produces a textured area with tonal effects similar to watercolor wash.
