About the artist:

George Gách was born in Budapest, Hungary, and as son of the eminent Hungarian sculptor, Stephen Gách, George was initially imbued with the classical traditions of the Beaux-Arts. He apprenticed under his father’s tutelage until the age of 18, and then attended the Fine Arts Academy in Budapest, where he later became an assistant professor. In 1952, Gách relocated his family to the United States and devoted himself entirely to his painting, sculpting, and art instruction. From his traditional and classical background in the arts, his own brand of impressionism and realism began to emerge as he enjoyed the development and maturation of his talent and expertise as a painter and sculptor. Gach’s paintings and bronzes are in collections worldwide. He was commissioned by international Heads of State, Governors, and other celebrities. At age 30, George Gách was selected from among Hungary's prominent sculptors (including his father) to sculpt the portrait bust of the Hungarian President. His works can be found in a multitude of museums and famed institutional collections in the United States, Europe, and the Middle East. Among the many distinguished awards received by Mr. Gách are the Audubon Artists Medal of Honor in 1966, the Gold Medal of the National Sculpture Society of New York in 1970, the Percival Deitsch Award of the National Sculpture Society of New York in 1974.
