About The Artist: George Lockwood

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Lockwood attended Cooper Union, the New School for Social Research, and received his undergraduate and MFA degrees from Yale University. He taught at several colleges and universities including Smith College, Amherst College, The Massachusetts College of Art, and the Rhode Island School of Design. About The Medium: Screenprint

A stencil process employing a frame on which silk or synthetic fabric is stretched. Stencils are hand-drawn or hand-cut and placed on the stretched fabric and act as a block out when the ink passes through the screen by means of a squeegee onto the paper, the non-stencil areas create the image. Also known as silkscreen or serigraph.
