About the artist:

The French painter and sculptor Georges Oudot was born July 28, 1928 in Chaumont in the Haute-Marne and died on 13 October 2004 in Besançon in the Doubs. After studying at the School of Fine Arts in Besançon, he entered 1946 with the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris where he was a pupil of Marcel Gimond and Alfred Janniot. Then he returns to Besançon where he set up his studio. It is considered one of the most significant representatives of contemporary figurative sculpture. He is also the author of numerous engravings and lithographs and several medals. He made many portraits, including those of Pierre Mendes France, Edgar Faure (which he created academician sword), Juliette Greco, Mrs. Pompidou, Leon Bourgeois and Princess Grace of Monaco. His works are presented in twenty museums, including the Modern Art of the City of Paris, Marseille, Strasbourg, Besançon, Belfort ... and worldwide: Lausanne, Vatican, Erlangen, Freiburg, Monaco, Skopje, Tehran ... He was a knight of the Legion of Honor, the National Order of Merit and the Order of Arts and Letters. Georges Oudot has received numerous awards: fénéon prize of sculpture, National Arts Award, the Young Sculpture Prize, drawing Price Modigliani Sculpture Biennial Prize Tribute Award from the Critics Jury Award for his set artwork. Georges Oudot was the cultural adviser Edgar Faure when he was president of the Franche-Comté region. He participated in the creation of CRDC, regional center of cultural diffusion which he was long the president. He created the Biennial of Plastic Arts of Besançon and set up the first FRAC management committee composed of artists and craftsmen. He left abruptly without these functions build the foundation for good procurement policy works.
