Everybody does not have the talent of a pathfinder. Gleb Bogomolov has managed to become a pioneer. The master was always attracted by the unknown. To jell as a personality and, therefore, as an artist was the most important thing for him. As early as in the 70s, he was working without any thought about his future success among the audience and was fighting for the right of freedom in the creative activity. Just at that time, the first exhibitions by nonconformists were taking place in Leningrad and Gleb Bogomolov was actively participating in them. Then he was a leader of the Experimental Fine Arts Partnership. The search for the truth and inner emotional experience were always playing a considerable role in his creative work. Brilliant skill of colorist and logician, the combination of complicated intellectual context, and vast psychological spectrum allow to assess the uniqueness of this author who has managed to personify the spiritual peculiarity of the Saint-Petersburg culture and preserve the intimate perception of the world as a poetic integrity. The artist applies the traditions of the old Russian art in his own manner. Many of his works resemble icons, which retained only individual fragments. Gleb Bogomolov continues to leave concrete images for the world of abstraction. He is involved in the search for a new plastic language. He confesses himself that everything he does is a small bridge from extremely ancient to extremely new.
