Harry Schaare's depiction of a robbery on horseback in the middle of the desert landscape of the American West is a classic example of the crime that was rampant across the Wild West scene in the American territories during the mid 19th to early 20th century.
Attacking from behind, several cowboys on horseback pull their guns out to rob an entourage of fellow cowboys. Donning shades of red, brown, and white, the men all have bandanas to cover their faces and weapons to protect themselves and potentially inflict harm on others.
