About The Artist: Italo Valenti

Italian painter and collagist, born in Milan. Studied at the Brera Academy in Milan 1932-7, then took an active part in the movement Corrente with Cassinari, Birolli, Fontana, Santomaso and others. Made paintings based on a childhood world of fable and enchantment, with marvellous fairy-tale gardens, fantastic animals, etc., in glowing radiant colours. About The Medium: Screenprint

A stencil process employing a frame on which silk or synthetic fabric is stretched. Stencils are hand-drawn or hand-cut and placed on the stretched fabric and act as a block out when the ink passes through the screen by means of a squeegee onto the paper, the non-stencil areas create the image. Also known as silkscreen or serigraph.
