About the artist:
Ivan Chermayeff studied at Harvard University, the Chicago Institute of Design and graduated from Yale University. He was a distinguished member of the Industrial Designers Society of America and the Alliance Graphique Internationale. Ivan has been awarded with a Doctorate Honoris Causa by the Corcoran Museum of Art in Washington, D.C. and by the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. He was the co-founder of Chermayeff & Geismer, Inc., responsible for the design of the National Park Service signage system, the logo for the United States Bicentennial celebrations, Chase Manhattan Bank, Xerox Corporation, and Mobile Corporation. He was the author of Observations on American Architecture and Ellis Island.
