About the artist:

Jacqueline Lévy-Morelle, draughtsman, printmaker and painter, was born to Marguerite and Jacques Lévy-Morelle on 19 June 1921 in Brussels, Belgium. Lévy-Morelle was a student of André Lhote and Fernand Léger and, in 1948, she began to paint. She began her career in printmaking in 1952 and mounted her first solo exhibition in 1953 in Brussels. She also participated in exhibitions in Brussels, Anvers and Paris. Lévy-Morelle was awaded the Prix de la Jeune Peinture Belge in 1953.

Lévy-Morelle studied at the Atelier 17 after Hayter reopened his studio in Paris in 1955. She eventually had her own studio in Paris. Lévy-Morelle was included in the XIX Salón de grabado at the Museo Español de Arte Contemporáeno in 1970.

Her work is represented in the collections of the Centre de la Gravure et de l'Image imprimée, Brussels; the Bibliothèque nationale de France, Paris; and the Portland Art Museum, Oregon.

Jacqueline Lévy-Morelle died in Paris, France in 1986.
