Belgian (1929)
About the artist:
Jacques Zimmermann was born in Antwerp in 1929. He said: "The abstraction is not for me or a genre painting, nor a limit. It is a starting point. From there, by the automatic gesture, writing, rhythms, colors and contrasts binding to indoor models reminiscences, painting becomes a journey of discovery to imaginary landscapes. Thus, the opposition between figuration and abstraction ceases to be relevant. This is to find and multiply crossing points between the two sides of creation." He participated in the activities of the movement Phases of Edward Jaguer, near the Paris Surrealist movement, and review Edda, Belgian correspondent Phases review. His work is in many private collections and Belgian and foreign public, such as Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium (Brussels) and the Museum of Modern Art in Phoenix (USA).
