Jennifer Dickson CM RA (born 17 September 1936) is a South African-born British artist who studied at Goldsmiths College and Atelier 17, Paris. Born in Piet Retief, South Africa, she had already established an international reputation as an artist before coming to Canada in 1969. After immigrating to Canada, she settled in Montreal and quickly became involved in the local art community, making her mark as a known Canadian artist. Dickson was elected as a Royal Academician in 1976. She currently lives in Ottawa, Canada. A well-respected lecturer and former faculty member at the University of Ottawa, Dickson has done many insightful talks on the evolution of garden aesthetics and how this intersects with cultural practices, she has always made time to mentor students and young artists. A world traveler, Dickson has photographed natural and man made landscapes in Canada, the U.S., England, Wales, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Turkey and Morocco. Dickson is famous for her printmaking techniques, through which she combines silkscreen, etching, aquatint, and collograph. In 1995, she was made a Member of the Order of Canada.
