about Desperado

Jim Jonson's portrayal of two cowboys, a herd of cattle, and a city of skyscrapers is emblematic of the artist's expressiveness of energy and movement in his scenes featuring sports and other athletic activities.

Turning his head to the right and looking over his shoulder slyly, the older cowboy with salt-and-pepper hair wears the quintessential blue jeans and 10-gallon hat that make up the unofficial uniform of the American cowboy. Trotting into the distance, the horse in the middleground heads toward the cows grazing in the dusty desert set before the city in the distance.

About The Artist: Jim Jonson

Jim Jonson is concerned with the kinetics of a sports event. He responds personally to the energy and the power generated by finely conditioned athletes, having been one himself. But above all he attempts to communicate the phenomenon of motion. He does not try to free these moments as a high-speed photograph would, but by skillfully employing the multiple image, Jonson dramatically enhances the narrative power of his paintings. About The Medium: Lithograph

A print created using flat stones or metal plates. The artist creates a lithograph by drawing an image directly onto the printing element using materials like lithograph crayons or special grease pencils. After this, the drawing is transferred from the plate to the paper in multiples. A lithograph will not have dots when examined with a magnifying glass.
