An etching from the Journal D'un Graveur which is made up of 3 Volumes, each containing a suite of 15 dry-points, preceded by an engraving in color wash, etching and aquatint.

All the plates, signed and numbered, are gathered together under a cover engraved with an etching. Each volume also contains a final etched engraving unsigned, unnumbered. 75 Copies were pulled on Rives vellum, numbered 1 to 75, and 10 copies not for sale, numbered 1 to X. Printing of the engravings: Morsang, Paris.

About The Artist: Joan Miro

Joan Miró Ferra was born April 20, 1893, in Barcelona. At the age of 14, he went to business school in Barcelona and also attended La Lonja’s Escuela Superior de Artes Industriales y Bellas Artes in the same city. Upon completing three years of art studies, he took a position as a clerk. After suffering a nervous breakdown, he abandoned business and resumed his art studies, attending Francesc Galí’s Escola d’Art...

About The Medium: Drypoint

Drawing on metal plate with a needle of hard steel, often with a diamond point. The burr that is formed along the edge of the line traps the link for a soft rich effect.
