Juan Manuel Gomez-Quiroz, painter/printmaker and graphic artist was born in 1939 in Santiago, Chile. He began his formal art studies there in 1957. In 1962 he received a scholarship and moved to New York. Between 1969 and 1976 he served as assistant professor in the Department of Art at New York University, and in 1986 he was a member of the jury at the Olympic Arts Competition. In 1988 he taught printmaking at the Fashion Institute Of Technology in New York, and in 1990 he was administrative assistant curator at the Museum of Contemporary Hispanic Art in New York. In 1994 he served as juror of selection for the Fulbright Commission.
