About The Artist: Juan Manuel Gomez-Quiroz

Juan Manuel Gomez-Quiroz, painter/printmaker and graphic artist was born in 1939 in Santiago, Chile. He began his formal art studies there in 1957. In 1962 he received a scholarship and moved to New York. Between 1969 and 1976 he served as assistant professor in the Department of Art at New York University, and in 1986 he was a member of the jury at the Olympic Arts Competition. About The Medium: Lithograph

A print created using flat stones or metal plates. The artist creates a lithograph by drawing an image directly onto the printing element using materials like lithograph crayons or special grease pencils. After this, the drawing is transferred from the plate to the paper in multiples. A lithograph will not have dots when examined with a magnifying glass.
