about Rainbow Waves

German Op artist Jurgen Peters creates a rainbow wave out of a color gradient in this serigraph from 1981.

Peters’ expert understanding of geometry and color gradients allowed him to create beautiful designs like the one seen here. Peters was a contemporary of Victor Vasarely, Yaacov Agam, and Bridget Riley.

Jurgen Peters was born in 1936 in Hamburg Germany. He was a very well known optical artist in the 1970s, he was a known contemporary of Victor Vasarely, Yaacov Agam and Briget Riley. His works were regularly advertised in the pages of "Art In America" from the 1970s....

About The Medium: Screenprint

A stencil process employing a frame on which silk or synthetic fabric is stretched. Stencils are hand-drawn or hand-cut and placed on the stretched fabric and act as a block out when the ink passes through the screen by means of a squeegee onto the paper, the non-stencil areas create the image. Also known as silkscreen or serigraph.
