About The Artist: Kazuhisa Honda

Kazuhisa Honda is among the few artists of his generation who has undertaken the demanding technique of color mezzotint and who is responsible for the revived appreciation of the uniquely refined quality of the medium. Honda began his education at the University of Osaka. He moved to Paris in 1974 to study intalio printing at the famed Atelier 17 with Stanley W. Hayter. About The Medium: Mezzotint

A printmaking process of the intaglio family, technically a drypoint method. It was the first tonal method to be used, enabling half-tones to be produced without using line- or dot-based techniques like hatching, cross-hatching or stipple.
