This is a hand-signed and numbered screenprint by Austrian Pop artist Kiki Kogelnik.

Kiki Kogelnik’s depiction of a woman wearing an oversized pink sunhat and a green polka dot dress appears both beautiful and deformed. Her mutilated hand held in front of her nose-less and eyebrow-less face, the woman appears to be a representation of the artist’s disapproval of mainstream advertising campaigns featuring women during the time.

About The Artist: Kiki Kogelnik

Kiki Kogelnik an Austrian by birth and training lived in the United States for many years. She is exhibited widely in Europe and the U.S. Her early work was primarily abstract, but soon evolved into cut out figure forms in space age settings and clothing. About The Medium: Screenprint

A stencil process employing a frame on which silk or synthetic fabric is stretched. Stencils are hand-drawn or hand-cut and placed on the stretched fabric and act as a block out when the ink passes through the screen by means of a squeegee onto the paper, the non-stencil areas create the image. Also known as silkscreen or serigraph.
