about Leda with Swan

This is a hand-signed and numbered screenprint by Austrian Pop artist Kiki Kogelnik.

In this jarring portrayal of the Greek myth Leda and the Swan, Kiki Kogelnik infuses a traditional legend with elements of feminist and Pop Art influences. Leaning backward with a yellow robe covering up her swimsuit, Leda appears unaware of the black swan resting behind her between her legs. Surrounded by frogs resting on bamboo shoots, the scene is a complex fusion of motifs and themes.

About The Artist: Kiki Kogelnik

Kiki Kogelnik an Austrian by birth and training lived in the United States for many years. She is exhibited widely in Europe and the U.S. Her early work was primarily abstract, but soon evolved into cut out figure forms in space age settings and clothing. About The Medium: Screenprint

A stencil process employing a frame on which silk or synthetic fabric is stretched. Stencils are hand-drawn or hand-cut and placed on the stretched fabric and act as a block out when the ink passes through the screen by means of a squeegee onto the paper, the non-stencil areas create the image.
