About the artist:

Kojin Toneyama was an artist born in Ibaraki prefecture in 1921 whose works contain many Mexican stylistics. He was fascinated by performance folk arts in Michinoku (now a part of the Tohoku area). In 1975, he settled in an atelier in Kitakami and exhibited dynamic works of Shishi Odori and Onikenbai. After his death, the atelier was changed into a memorial art museum and today there are mainly works of performance folk art motifs on display.
