About The Artist: Komar and Melamid (Vitaly Komar and Alexander Melamid)

Vitaly Komar (1943) and Alexander Melamid (1945) born in Moscow. They attend and graduate from the Stroganov School of Art and Design (1967). Their first joint show, Retrospectivism, appears in the Blue Bird CafÈ (Moscow, 1967). “Even if only one of us creates some of the projects and works, we usually sign them together. About The Medium: Lithograph

A print created using flat stones or metal plates. The artist creates a lithograph by drawing an image directly onto the printing element using materials like lithograph crayons or special grease pencils. After this, the drawing is transferred from the plate to the paper in multiples. A lithograph will not have dots when examined with a magnifying glass.
