About the artist:

Kurt Schönen was born in 1945 in Büdingen, Upper Hesse, Germany. He attended the Arts and Crafts School in Krefeld from 1969–1971. The earliest examples of his etchings and oil paintings are from 1971. He is known for mostly for his etchings, with works focusing on the aesthetic and seemingly tangible reality of objects. From 1972 to 1985, he had a studio in Worpswede. Currently, Schönen lives and works in Berlin.
