About The Artist: Lee Lorenz

Lee Lorenz was the art editor of The New Yorker from 1973 to 1993 and the magazine’s cartoon editor from 1993 to 1997. Lorenz is a prolific contributor to the magazine; he has done many covers and more than eighteen hundred cartoons. Lorenz joined the staff in 1958, the same year his first cartoon appeared in the pages of The New Yorker. The artist creates a lithograph by drawing an image directly onto the printing element using materials like lithograph crayons or special grease pencils.
