about French Gothic

American artist Lloyd Lozes Goff renders an idyllic French road with overhanging trees in this lithograph from 1979.

The trees come together, forming pointed arches, like the ones seen in Gothic cathedrals all over France. Under their canopies is a lone figure, dwarfed by the magnitude of the tall trees.

About The Artist: Lloyd Lozes Goff

Like most boys raised in the West, Lloyd Goff's favorite childhood game was "Playing Cowboy" and his earliest drawings depict his heroes in boots and spurs. Even his first formal art training was with the trail-driver cowboy turned cattle painter, Frank Reaugh of Oak Cliff, Texas.
