About the artist:

Lode Sebregts was a Belgian painter , watercolorist and draftsman of flowers, figures, nudes , portraits , cityscapes and still lifes. He was also set and costume designer at the Royal Dutch Theater in Antwerp . Until 1974 he was the poster designer for the city of Antwerp. Painting behind glass, the églomisé, was also not unknown to him.

Sebregts was educated at the Academy of Antwerp and NHISKA with Isidoor Opsomer, Albert Saverys and Edward Pellens. He later became a teacher at SISA and Studio Herman Teirlinck.

Lode Sebregts was also an inveterate pipe smoker and as a result he was twice elected "pipe piper of the year" by the Sinjoren pipers' guild. The work of Lode Sebregts is present in the Prentenkabinet, the Royal Museum of Fine Arts, the Maritime Museum and the AMVC in Antwerp.
